As a wise man once said, "It takes a hundred years to grow an oak, but only a couple of months to grow a squash" (or a pumpkin) -- and even less time for some varmint to shred it!:-)
BTW, an old land lady of mine used to make pumpkin pie using Jack 'o lanterns. Boy was that fibrous, just as fibrous as your pictured specimen. She should have offered her pie to the varmints instead of her guests.
